The pathway to abuse, rape and intimidation
Data from a Victim of the rape gangs reveals what might be considered to be a general pathway for the grooming and
rape of Victims. That said, many of
the Victims were just abducted from the streets by opportunistic rapists. Figure 1: Convicted The process generally appears to be as follows: 1.
A young woman befriends the Victim (many aged
14 to 16) a.
Often outside the school gates 2.
The young woman introduces the Victim to
alcohol and later drugs; as well as portraying drinking and drugs as being
sophisticated, exciting and adult. 3.
The young woman hands over contact to a young
man who continues the alcohol and drug use, often leading to drug addiction. 4.
The young man turns the relationship with the
Victim into a romantic one. 5.
The young man, probably now a rapist on
account of having had sex with an underage girl, then pimps the Victim around
his national network of rapist clients, earning substantial payments from his
clients in the process. One
commentator said that each girl was probably worth 250,000 in revenue per
annum to her pimp. Figure 2: Convicted 6.
The rapists / pimps often used threats of
physical violence to silence Victims. a.
Violence against the Victim b.
Violence against the Victim s younger siblings
and family c.
Documented examples of violence include
i.
Breaking the legs or threatening to break the
legs of family members and or attack family members: 1.
younger siblings 2.
parents
ii.
Pouring petrol over the Victim and the
Victim s family and threatening to set them alight. From page 7 of the Jay
report:

report:
It looks as if some of the threats turned to murder. Page 73 of the Jay
report.
Figure 3: Convicted The
Daily Mail reported a brave Victim (Sarah Wilson) who went public with her
account. Comment
by Simon Elmer but please note that this comment almost certainly creates
the wrong impression that the crimes were entirely driven by muslims. This is
clearly not the case as discussed by Baroness Jay on page 98 of her report. Figure 4: Extract from the Jay
report, page 98
